A Magical Summer Solstice Weekend

A Magical Summer Solstice Weekend

There is something truly magical about the Summer Solstice. The longest day of the year invites us to pause, reconnect with nature.

This weekend saw Lou from @Tranquil Space hold her first retreat at The Woodland Site, at Field Head Farm, whilst a beautiful group of ladies celebrated the fourth coming wedding of Nin down at Barn side.

From the moment Lou’s retreat guests arrived, there was a sense of calm that settled over the glamping site. The elegant bell tents became cosy sanctuaries for the weekend, offering the perfect blend of comfort and simplicity, allowing everyone to fully immerse themselves in the experience.

Wrapped in blankets beneath the open sky, the gentle vibrations of crystal bowls, chimes and drums blended with the crackling fire and birdsong, creating a powerful invitation to slow down and simply be present.

The retreat wasn't just about relaxation—it was also about stepping beyond comfort zones. One of the most empowering moments came during the fire walk. With encouragement, intention and a supportive community, participants discovered just how capable they truly are. Walking barefoot across glowing embers became a powerful metaphor for facing fears and embracing personal transformation.

Another unforgettable experience was the arrow break beneath a magnificent 200-year-old oak tree. Drawing on focus, breath and determination, each person learned to break an arrow using only the strength of their intention. Surrounded by the wisdom of the ancient oak, it became a moving reminder that many of the limits we carry are often self-imposed.

Guests crafted beautiful floral crowns using seasonal blooms, each one unique and bursting with colour. Laughter filled the air as flowers were woven together, creating wearable reminders of the season's abundance.

One of the retreat's most peaceful highlights was the floating sound bath on the lake. Drifting gently on the water while immersed in healing sounds created an experience unlike any other. With blue skies overhead and the water softly rocking beneath, it felt as though time itself had slowed.

Mick and Anna at Field Head Farm created a magical Solstice experience for the swim community. Sunrise wild swims greeted the day with refreshing energy, while sunset swims offered a peaceful close as golden light reflected across the water. These simple yet profound moments became cherished rituals, connecting everyone more deeply with the rhythms of nature.

Dona Phelan Provided a gorgeous Yoga session on Sunday evening encouraging movement, mindfulness and gratitude, followed by a peaceful and private wild swim.

Calm, Craft, Create also welcomed the swim community to the lakeside clubhouse to be a part of a hub of creativity, crafting embroidered hoops of swimmers with recycled materials, offering time to slow down, make something by hand and enjoy relaxed conversations over cups of tea, and home-made cake - strengthening the beautiful sense of community at Field Head Farm.

Until next year, may we all continue to carry a little of that summer light wherever we go..
